Frequently Asked Questions

Have Questions? We've got answers!

I don't spend much time outdoors, is this right for me?

Wilderness therapy can benefit just about anyone. Peak Performance Ventures caters to those 18+, however should you have a minor who is interested in wilderness therapy, we can make recommendations and provide suggestions on what might be beneficial to them.

What's included in a "standard experience"?

There is no such thing as a "standard experience" when immersing in wilderness therapy. It is the practitioner's role to create an environment that promotes growth and personal reflection. For some, that might be two days in a wilderness space devoid of distractions. For others, it might be deep meditation aside a lake or waterfall. Just as every person is unique, so are the immersions coordinated by Peak Potential Ventures.

Are the experiences suitable for all ages?

Participants must be over 18 for legal reasons. There is no upper age limit for the experience. Ability will be taken into account when planning.

This doesn't appeal to me. Do you provide any personalized services in a more modern environment?

Peak Performance Ventures can recommend any number of experts who might be able to better assist your needs.

May I bring my phone?

You may bring your phone, however the wilderness therapy is meant to be absorbed in as technology-free of a immersion as is possible. Calls to family/work are strongly discouraged as it can hamper the work being done during the experience. We subscribe to the Leave No Trace principles of "take only pictures, leave only footprints."

What measures are taken for participant safety?

Safety is the absolute paramount importance at Peak Performance Ventures. In addition to maintaining constant contact with your guide (who carries experience in Wilderness First Aid and Search & Rescue efforts) you will not be put into any situation you don't feel you can handle.(i.e. you won't be asked to ford any rivers that are deemed unsafe or wrestle any wild animals). Itineraries may change depending on extenuating circumstances such as the weather. The outdoors can provide its own set of hazards (weather, terrain, etc.) that will be taken into account by your guide.

Can I request a custom itinerary?

This experience can be customized to fit any personal need or goal. Prefer to visit mountain summits? That can be arranged. Seeking companionship with the wilderness in the depths of a hardwood forest? That can be coordinated as well. Generally experiences can vary from a long weekend (3-day) to upwards of a week. The choice is yours.

As always, should you find yourself in crisis, please dial 911 and seek medical assistance immediately.
